Gary Has Been Animated

Mar01
2011

In an earlier post, I mentioned I was working on an animation, featuring a character named Gary. I have completed the animation and published it on YouTube. I included it in my new magazine, Open Hydrant. The first issue went up last Wednesday and so now I am looking at another deadline.  I will provide more details in another post.

But here is the video. I worked long and hard on it, even though the animation could be described as crude, or, more diplomatically my friend Jim called it “unique.”

includes songs from Frank Sinatra, The Beach Boys, and Led Zeppelin.

Working on ShineR

Jan07
2011

I’m pulling together some tracks for the ShineR album. First I have organized a sequence of tracks that contain bits that I’ve performed at stand-up. Now I have to find instances of these bits and determine the most suitable version. Then, I can string the tracks together and add music behind and around the tracks. It’s gonna be a long weekend.

I’m NYC Marathon-Bound

Sep03
2010

I’ll be competing in this years ING New York City Marathon Nov. 7th. This is a big deal for me. I’m excited. I’m in great shape, and will be gunning for a result less than 3 and one half hours.I’m glad that I’ll be able to run it for the first time along with one of my oldest friends, Matt C.  I can feel the weight of history as the date approaches.

I’ll be doing a lot of running as part of my training; look for me, I’ll be wearing shorts and singing along with my handy iPod.

The hitch is: In order to secure entry, I’ve committed to raise $2600 for Team For Kids. I am embracing this opportunity, and have set some time for this weekend to think about the charity and fund raising.

Keepin’ the Spirit Alive

2010

My true nature is that of a champion. I have joined a gym that trains athletes. It is a Cross Fit gym, which features high-intensity exercises at fast-pace. Some nights I row; some nights I box. I’m working hard to get back on top.

Musical Chairy

Jul14
2010

I’m in my new music room. The chair was my first furniture for the pad. I’m holding Alicia in my left-hand. Denise looks on from the wall, she a Gibson hollow-body knockoff. The music box was my very first purchase for the place, as I waited for the keys in a pawn shop… I found a cherry-wood phonograph player (with radio and a CD player on the side). Since then, I’ve been buying vinyl from Reckless Records. Some of the album covers wind up on the wall.

I’ve lost some time to a cold (which I’d avoided all winter / spring but came down with last week). Now I’m well and eager to resume work on the comedy record. The jokes are in the can, but I have to add music.
