Welcome to The Bit Tracker 2000!!!

In the past month, a big change has happened: I made time to work on the Bit Tracker and then I made it an obsession. I poured LOTS of brain power and man power into the project.

Now I’m finally getting results. I have turned the corner. I changed the name because “anything” “2000″ is hilarious, and we have to keep our perspective about this–it is by and for comedians.

I have reserved the domain names: BitTracker2000.com and TheBitTracker.com

I have been using it ‘for real’ since yesterday. I set up an account for my friend Jim Coughlin. He is a comic who has more than a thousand sets under his belt, and dozens of notebooks of bits. It was his warm welcoming of the idea (and of me on his couch) that made me pledge to follow-through with the plan. He’s also provided some important requests: such as using minutes:seconds instead of decimal minutes.

I’m going to open up the site to a few more VIPs… I have to produce some help guides (video, glossary) and then I’ll launch Memorial Day. If you know of any performers who want to track their bits, pass on their info to me.

Above is a screen shot of the Opening page after login. It shows some aggregate info, and important news such as Upcoming and Most Recent Sets.

I am using the new service jott. It’s really cool. It’s letting me post a blog from my phone using my voice. We’ll see how it comes out but the early indications are that it’s a smash. listen

Pill Prevents Ovarian Cancer

British scientists published a report today that taking the birth control pill for 15 years cuts in half the chances of a woman getting ovarian cancer, and that it keeps the risk low even 30 years after last taking it. [ See story ]

The study also pointed out that the anticancer properties would work even in extraordinarily screwed-up women, such as Britney Spears.

Friends, for Lent, this morning I gave up my seat on the bus, to a harried yuppie woman with two very large (“ultra”) bags. (I couldn’t guess what the bags contained…anvil, sledgehammer?)

After deliberation during the day, I have decided to give up posting to this blog, at least until Easter. FYI: It boggles my mind just how unpopular this blog is… not from a quality/hype perspective, but from search. I mean, really: 5 visitors? On a recent typical day I had one visit from China, one from Arizona, one from England, one from Michigan, and then my friend in Virginia… How is that mathematically possible? Zero would be easier to understand. What kind of multiple / equation computes to ’5?’ How does Google search generate a single hit?
There are a billion web users! Oh gosh. It’s not my ego that’s been bruised; it’s my grasp for numbers. So… while I still have my looks and live near NYC, I am going to shut off the brain, and start getting serious about modeling.
